One of the selected films in the official selection of the IBAFF 4th Edition is Vekne Hleba i Riba (Loaves and Fish) and it will be screened in Malaga Festival, (dedicated to spanish cinema and celebrated from the 20th to the 27th of April 2013). Vekne Hleba i Riba (Loaves and fish) is short documentary film directed by Irene M. Borrego, who visited us at IBAFF last edition and personally introduced her film before it was screened. “We will meet again”, the master said to his students
One year ago, Abbas Kiarostami landed first in Murcia to teach a film workshop. Thirty-five students, ten days, and the shared admiration for a director who has marked a milestone in the history of the cinematographic perspective, thanks to his poetic simplicity. Yes. We knew that we would meet again, someday, in Murcia… And that’s the way it has been, One year later, the Iranian filmmaker comes back to a city which has turned into a film reference within the global cultural scene. Closing and Awards Ceremony of the Fourth IBAFF
The Fourth IBAFF (Ibn Arabi Film Festival) finishes this night at the Teatro Romea with a ceremony managed by the Murcian Alfonso Albacete, film director, and Elisa Albacete, journalist. In the Official Selection, which is made up of four categories for the first time, the IBAFF 2013 Award for Best Fictional Feature Film, has been won by the Iranian film YE HABE GHAND (A CUBE OF SUGAR), from Reza Mir Karimi; and the honorable mention from the jury has been won by VOCI NEL BUIO (VOICES IN THE DARK), from the Italian Rodolfo Bisatti. The IBAFF 2013 Award for Best Documentary Feature Film has been won by THE SAHARAN TEACHER, from Nicolas Muñoz, and the honorable mentions from the jury, by THE RIDGE, from Pablo Iraburu and Migueltxo Molina and REHERSAL FOR UTOPIA, from Andres Duque. IBAFF Selection premieres in Spain Two meters of this Land, from Ahmad Natche
During the festival, it has been programmed the screenings of works from the 3 main protagonists of the Filmmakers Meeting. Today we can enjoy at the Filmoteca Regional Sueño y silencio, from Jaime Rosales, included in the IBAFF Selection, which has counted on the participation of others works such as Like someone in love, from Abbas Kiarostami, and Dream of Light, from Victor Erice. Other titles included in this selection are: Two meters of this Land (Ahmad Natche), premiered in Spain, and Arraianos (Eloy Enciso). These two filmmakers are part of the IBAFF jury this year. IBAFF 2013 is saying goodbye
In a couple of hours, the 4th edition of de IBAFF (International Murcia Film Festival) will be closing with the Awards Ceremony in Romea Theatre, that will be hosted by the Murcian director Alfonso Albacete and the journalist Elisa Albacete. This week we were able to see the best international film proyects, not only fiction but also documentaries, and also the best films from Murcia. We have been visited by masters like Victor Erice, Jaime Rosales, Bill Viola, Suad Hakim, and, of course, our friend Abbas Kiarostami, so we have been rewarded. Kiarostami’s Workshop leaves again a working group of people with enthusiastic with the experience. With all of them, we have made this family picture, thank you for making this possible. The Official Selection finishes with a Goya Award
The oficial selection ends today with 6 films, of which five has been produced by Spanish filmmakers. From 17:00 at the “Filmoteca Regional”, in three different showings, we will have the chance to see A story for the Modlins (in the photo) from Sergio Oksman, a fiction short film winner of a Goya Award in its price category; The wedding, from Marina Seresesky, a short film nominated by the Academy; Emak Bakia baita (The search for Emak Bakia), the documentary of Oskar Alegria (Navarre) premiered the last San Sebastian Film Festival; the Spanish-Serbian co-production Vekne Hleba I riba (The loaves and fish), from Irene M. Bill Viola takes part in the II Symposium Ibn Arabi of Murcia
The Fourth International Film Festival of Murcia (IBAFF) welcomes for the second time the International Symposium Ibn Arabi of Murcia, an international forum about the figure of the mystic Sufi master who was born in Murcia in the 12th Century. The Symposium takes place the 8th and 9th March, 2013. Under the title of “Symbol and creative imagination”, this meeting held by the Muhyiddin Ibn Arabi Society in Spain (MIAS – Spain) and coordinated by the master Pablo Beneito, wants to become known once again thorough the universal importace, the deep significance and the stated relevance of the Ibn Arabi’s life-giving thoughts. The filmmakers Abbas Kiarostami, Victor Erice and Jaime Rosales are meeting tomorrow at the IBAFF
The IBAFF is working on the exceptional meeting among the filmmakers Abbas Kiarostami, Victor Erice and Jaime Rosales. The event, which takes place tomorrow, 8th March, 2013, at 10:00 in the Aula de Cultura de Caja de Mediterráneo, is managed by the film master and crtitic Angel Quintana. The IBAFF proposes an interesting session where the participants invite you to know first hand the filmmaking process under his own cinematographic philosophy in an event open to the audience. Abbas Kiarostami (Teheran, 1940) is one of the most influential and controversial filmmakers and photographers in the postrevolutionary Iran and one of the most acclaimed directors in the international cinema community. Mapa, the first feature film by León Siminiani, will be realeased in Murcia.
The official selection of IBAFF 4th edition continues in the Filmoteca Regional Francisco Rabal. Today, Mapa will be screened for the first time in our city. Mapa is the first feature film of León Siminiani, and it has been applauded by critics and has been nominated to the Goya Awards in last edition for the best Documentary.
